Aaron's Steaks

I'm going to make this brief, because that's the entirety of my experience with Aaron's Steaks. No food rating because I never got any food. (Seamless insists on a star rating to proceed, so I clicked one star.) I ordered at 11:30 pm last night and was told in the confirmation email that the wait time would be 30-45 minutes. Okay, I can handle that. But when 1:40 am rolled around and still no food, I called the restaurant. A rude person said he couldn't find my order, that they were having issues with the Seamless computer and suggested I call Seamless Web. Which I did, had the order abrogated and got a refund. A half hour later, some idiot delivery kid woke me from a sound sleep. I told him to get lost and keep his 2-1/2hr-old food. "Hey, man, we were busy," he said. Be forewarned.

I'm writing this review because as of me writing this there are no reviews for this place on the net, so I figure lots of people will be on the fence. I've lived on the UES my whole life so I know pretty much all the restaurants around here, and this place has become one of my new favorites. First of all, this place serves sandwiches ala Philly Cheesesteaks. I ordered a steak sandwich, waffle fries, and a friend ordered tater tots and boneless spicy chicken wings. I ordered delivery and the delivery arrived promptly with no problems. The steak sandwich was excellent, really very good. I would say Aaron's Steaks is to Philly cheesesteaks what Luke's Lobster is to lobster rolls. It's not quite as upscale as Luke's Lobster so instead of a fancy branded box you get a sandwich wrapped in aluminium foil, but cheesesteaks are supposed to be a tiny bit greasy and soggy so I'd say its perfect. Taste was spot on. The waffle fries were the best waffle fries I've had on the UES, or even anywhere. Perfect crispness/flavor and did not arrive soggy (which most places do for delivery)! I tried the tater tots and they were solid as well - good taste, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, not soggy, etc. The boneless chicken wings were very good although the spicy version is still quite mild (although I have a high threshold for spice, so your mileage may vary.) Overall, I welcome this place to the neighbourhood. This place ranks amongst my favorite casual/delivery restaurants on the UES (Cascabel, Luke's, San Matteo, Lenny's, Shake Shack, etc. for reference of what I consider top-tier on the UES).

The steak sandwich is flavorful, but more a loose meat sandwich than a Philly cheesesteak. The cheese and onions were imperceptible. Peppers don't come standard. The sweet potato tots are too compressed and therefore don't have a lot of crunch. The boneless wings are fairly tasty if you eat them right away, but like the tots, seem like freezer case fare. Order arrived on time.

The food itself was good, but I was not satisfied with the amount that I got for $16. I ordered a steak sandwich with onions, sweet peppers, and extra cheese which all cost extra. I had to whip my magnifying glass out to confirm that there were onions and sweet peppers on the sandwich. Additionally, if the amount of cheese I got constitutes 'extra' then I'm extremely interested to see how many slivers the regular amount is. Overall the food was definitely good, but $16 didn't even fill me up.

I actually really like the food at Aaron's when I'm in the mood for a cheesesteak, which is why I keep letting myself forget every single heinous delivery experience I've had with them. It has now already been over an hour and when I called was told that they are just making my order now. It's cheesesteaks and French fries, how long could it really take. Never again and if I could give them 0 stars, I would.

Steak subs are awesome, and the delivery time has improved immensely. Well priced to boot. You'll be hard pressed to find a better sub in NYC.

Decent cheesesteaks. Epically bad service. Waited for our sandwiches for well over an hour now. We ordered at 1, and at that time they said the est delivery time was 45 minutes. It's 3 now. We even called twice. I don't mind waiting, but at least be honest about the wait time. What is the point of delivery if I could've gone there, eaten and come back home in the same time I've been waiting? Update: Food arrived at 3:30. Aaron's gave us a full refund, which was nice. But when you're hungry and thinking 45 min is the longest you'll have to wait and then it winds up being twice that long, it's very frustrating. Our afternoon was spent waiting for food that was cold and not worth it. Also, we ordered ice cream, which was practically all melted. So thanks for the free, cold and ruined food that we had to wait 90 minutes for.

Awesome Steaks, I go with the cheese steak with wiz, onions, mushrooms, sweet peppers and hot sauce, this place has great bread, and the bread is what makes the cheese steak so good!

cheese fries came with a cup of some inedible, thick brown goop that definitely wasnt cheese. ordered extra cheese on cheese steak but it barely had any at all (for the second time). wont be ordering again.

The cheese steaks are pretty good and the prices are reasonable. The reviewer who suggest ordering the cheese fries in order to get the extra bowl of cheese is a genious - I strongly recommend. And, as many people have pointed out, these are absolutely the worst delivery people EVER. I've ordered three times, and the guy(s) stand as far away from the door as possible, and almost throw the food at you. But tonight, I finally figured how to deal with it. 1) Leave the smallest tip possible for these guys. I am normally a generous tipper, but these delivery guys are the absolute worst. 2) GRAB the food out of their hand before they can throw it at you. 3) Finally, and most fufillingly, SLAM the door the second you have the food. This way, you can enjoy your cheesesteak and have a little giggle at the same time! Oh, I laughed tonight!

delicious philly cheese steak. went with the whiz and onions. i suggest getting this delivered and ordering the cheese fries. why? the cheese was lacking on the PCS itself, but with the tub of hot orange goodness i was delivered for the fries, i had plenty to spread on the sandwich and pour on the waffle fries. will order from again. best cheese steak UES hands down.
