So i'm an Indian and only recently moved to the States.. checked out Seamless for some good Indian food, came across Chennai India Bistro ... Went through the menu saw the dishes and heard angels singing Halleluia... Ordered the Mangalore Chicken Prix Fixe.. Order came and i could not wait to smell South India (where i'm from!!) .. they left out the Coke, but i could even handle that without a refund.. Then comes the tasting ...... UUUUUUgggggggHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People in India would think they were crazy to serve this bland, overly colored, white meat , pepper filled Rot.. For real and your calling your selves Chennai India Bistro.. the people with street carts in India serve better .. (sorry better is an underestimation) food than this!!! Its was tasteless,no taste of the authentic South Indian coconut.. Mangalore Chicken you call it?? Do u even know where Mangalore is... Arrrggghhhh i was born there... People in America have no idea how delicious Indian food can be thanks to restaurants like these, that mix water spices and oil all uncooked i might add to chicken and then claim it's Indian. I'm yet too discover Indian restaurants in NYC that are not afraid to cook the real deal. Chicken tasteless, curry tasteless, roti- half cooked, appetiser- most bland of all (LOL)!! Even the Raita was sweeeet.. got confused between the kheer and curd huh???? Me too!!!! The most confusing was i could not even taste India in it... MEH! Wish there were no stars!! U deserve a minus 500..!!!

I have been ordering in for almost 2 years and the food is always hot, delivered quickly and consistent in quality & quantity. They offer dishes from north as well as some from south part of India, which increases the options. Quantity is sufficient for one. The 'roti' is almost like home made Indian bread. 'Kadi Pakoda' is good and any item on Pixe menu is pretty good. 'Medhu Vada' is a great apetizer. Food is usually spiced accurately and never overdone. I sometimes find the oil content a bit too much but thats a rare occassion & ought to happen of you have ordered for 2 yrs :) Also, the reason for only 4 stars is their restrictive buffet menu on weekends if you are eating at the restaurant. I would like to see them offering atleast some of the more popular items on buffet. The restaurant itself is small and nice - has only 4-5 tables. So, call if you are headed for a busy time/day.

Just received the worst take out ever: greasy, soggy, cheapest of ingredients. I have gotten decent Indian food from Chennai in the past. This was just bad. 0 stars

I have dined in and the food was great. I ordered Chicken Chettinad Spicy and it was good but way too oily and spicy. Not consistent with what I had when I dined in. The delivery was quick they just need to work on being consistent irrespective of dine in or delivery

The food was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. I will probably not order from there again, there are tons of other indian places around. First they sent me only one small container of rice even though I ordered 2 meals and when I called they were not too willing to bring me more rice. I understand they try to combine the rice sometimes but I don't think I should be shortchanged since I am paying for 2 meals each costing $15. Second, on the seamless page, the pre fix menu said it will bring rice pudding (not one of either two desserts) so they sent me a gulab jamun. I ordered there specifically because it said rice pudding, that is what I wanted and expected. When I called they just said that they would change the description on the seamless page, but did not honor my request for rice pudding. I was very dissapointed. Also the food took forever to arrive, and when I requested the extra rice that also took forever to arrive, and I live very close to them. By the time the extra rice arrived we were done eating....

After waiting an extra hour I can't say what the food is like. When I order from someone who says it's going to be 25 to 35 minutes I actually expect them to be there. They never showed, even though I called twice. I give up and am going to get a slice of pizza.

I used to come here all the time, when it was a vegetarian kosher indian restaurant and was skeptical when they changed around the menu. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the chana masala and the malai kofta -- both were super tasty.

Got a veggie dish (eggplant, mushrooms and cauliflower in a spinach sauce) that was nicely done, but I wish it had been spicier. It was just a bit on the bland side. The mushroom appetizer was too flooded in what's basically just a tomato sauce, so I don't recommend that one. Bread and raita were good. I'll definitely order from here again - they have so many veggie options that sound good (and I eat meat!).

Very very bad service. Completely no respect for the customer. I ordered at 8.36 pm and delivery came at 11.36 pm and that too half items were missing. Then I called them again and they sent the rest items half hour later. Worst place. The food was below average quality Never again.
