Cosmic Diner

Love Cosmic Diner. It's become part of a weekly Sunday morning routine. They make great omelets (we're partial to the spinach and feta), pancakes and potatoes. The delivery is always fast and you get a lot of food for your money. Great anytime you want good, tasty food without getting up off the couch!

I've ordered from this place around 200 times (4-5 times per week for almost a year now). The food is excellent, delivery is fast, and the employees are courteous. Unfortunately, special instructions are ALWAYS ignored and if you place a big order you can almost always expect mistakes and items to be missing (i.e. - no coffees, no side of bacon with your eggs, a missing plate of chicken salad, ...). Although they are good about correcting their mistakes and redelivering any missing food, I'm getting too annoyed to call them every single day to have my order corrected and to have forgotten food redelivered. Also, I'm like most people and prefer to drink my morning coffee when I get my food, not 30 minutes later. If I wanted to make a phone call for every order, I wouldn't bother entering everything into Seamless Web in the first place. My advice for ordering from here is that you stick to ordering the basics directly off of the menu with no additional instructions and keep the order very, very small. If you don't want to do that, order from somewhere else. This is 4-star diner food, but the constantly, exponentially increasing mistakes over the past few months reduce this restaurant to a 2 star rating. It is a real shame that they usually can't complete an order properly anymore because their food is great, their people are nice, and their delivery is fast. In my case, I've had enough of the slipshot order filling. I'm going back to ordering from The Flame on 58th & 9th. The Flame's food may be a little worse and their phone people may sometimes be a bit surly, but they are very accommodating of special instructions and always get everything right the FIRST time. Cosmic Diner just lost me as a customer because their carelessness and lack of attention to detail finally just got to be too much for me. Ordering from a diner shouldn't be this complicated and time consuming.

Good news: My order arrived 10 minutes after I received the confirmation. Bad news: The food had obviously been sitting on the grill for a long while. Everything was dry and overcooked. It appeared that they dumped a meal that was returned by a diner customer on to a delivery customer.

Cosmic does a really good job of covering a wide range of diner menu staples - pancakes, disco fries, chicken souvlaki, triple decker sandwiches. Good food, fast delivery - can't beat it.

We have ordered from here a few times and always been pleased UNTIL now. Item I ordered was not received as described on menu. When I called, I was told that I had ordered wrong (which I had NOT). I was told that it wasn't worth the diner's time to replace my order! Person was very RUDE, yelling at me and would not listen to me as I tried to explain the description of the item that was on Seamless Web page. I asked for a refund and they told me that I would have to contact Seamless Web because it was THEIR fault! I did contact Seamless Web and explained the situation, they contacted the restaurant and got me my refund (thank you SW). Unfortunately I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS DINER AGAIN.

This place is great for breakfast (my husband loves the corned beef hash), burgers & fries (the fries are awesome!) and sandwiches. We order from Cosmic often and take our families there when they visit. Everyone loves this place!

I ordered fried fish and chips. I received 3 small fish portions that looked and tasted like the fish portions for Gordons Frozen Fish Portions that I give to my grandchildren. This was not what I would pay in a restaurant to eat, frozen warmed up fish portions. The egg cream and avacodo that I ordered as sides were the only good thing in the whole meal. Not saying I would not order from them again, I am saying that I would not order the fish and chips

I ordered 3 scrambled eggs soft w/ cheddar cheese and a side of bacon, no toast, no potatoes. ~$13.40 + tax and 20% tip = $17.34. Here are my scores (1=worst, 5=best): Speed of delivery (19 min, .4 miles) - 4 Order Accuracy - 2 Food Temperature - 2 Taste - 3 Value - 3 Despite my instructions, they delivered the order with toast and potato chips. It was on the cold side; but edible. I was expecting the cheese cooked in with the eggs but it was just melted on top. The order with tip was a $4.50 savings vs. ordering the same thing from Carnegie Deli, who would have had at least 50% more food and always arrives in 15 minutes or less.

I made an order and put in special instructions. I also didn't click "butter" on my toast. When I got my order, I found they didn't pay attention to my instructions, and sent me something I didn't want. I called to ask why, and was told I didn't "order it right" and was hung up on. There is a caveat on the Special instructions that says you will be charged differently for any additions or changes. Clearly, they saw the requests, and didn't pay attention to them. In my opinion, they should have called me to confirm the updated charge to me, as my phone number was available to them. Also- my toast arrived buttered. I will never order from them again.
