My family and I love this place! Sushi is always so fresh, better than any other sushi place in the neighborhood! We order from here at least twice and week, and our delivery is always within 20 minutes and correct.

forget about the fact they delivered during Hurricane Sandy -- the food is excellent, both sushi and cooked food absolutely fresh and high quality. Wow

The sushi rolls were excellent - very fresh fish! Delivery was prompt and the presentation was good. The noodles were tasty as well. I'll definitely try it again.

Best delivery sushi in Midtown East. The spicy tuna crunch arrived crunchy and plenty spicy. Yellowtail was fresh. Even the pickled ginger was sweet and zingy.

My order was placed on a Thursday night around 9 pm. Delivery arrived towards the upper end of the specified delivery time 45 mins). The delivery guy was friendly and courteous and the food came in one piece; the bag included extra cut pieces of cardboard to ensure that none of the food was smashed or shifted during delivery... The sushi definitely wasn't the highest quality (what can you expect at these rates?), but was edible even though it tasted like it had been pre-made much earlier in the day and was sitting in the refrigerator too long and so some of the good flavors had turned a bit bland (not bad, just not great). None of the fish smelled or tasted like it had gone bad... I ordered the Angel's Roll, Spider Maki Roll, Eel w/ Cucumber Roll, and Yellowtail Scallion Roll. The Angel's Roll and Spider Roll looked like the chef took time in ensuring the presentation was nice (as nice as can be expected in a takeout box), but none of the rolls were rolled very well. Almost all of them fell apart as soon as you touched them (and I grew up with chopsticks, so I know it's not my eating skill level that made the seaweed unravel and the rice fall out). I examined the rolls and found that the seaweed wrappers on most of them were cut too short, so there were wide gaps of rice where seaweed should have been.

I usually go pickup from here, so I can't comment on the delivery. Sushi is always super fresh, and tastes terrific. The rolls are fairly sizeable, but made really well so they don't fall apart while you're trying to eat them. Skip the teriyaki though - the sauce tastes very artificial and it's not worth it. They changed their name to Umi sushi (not sure when), but the food is definitely better than a year ago when they were still Dai Hachi.

I am so happy I discovered this little gem of a sushi joint! Not only are they super quick as far as delivery times goes, but they have such unique and delicious rolls on the menu that I have never seen anywhere else. I also love how they bring the freshest little cut up orange with every delivery. Overall, a wonderful place!!

Their honey wasabi sauce is AMAZING. Like seriously addicting. I strongly recommend getting it on the side with any roll you get. I stick to pretty basic sushi (tuna avocado, etc.), but it's always fresh and delish. Their delivery is also generally pretty fast. This is my fave sushi in midtown.

AMAZING! I ordered my sushi and it came in 10 minutes! Not only did they call to let me know that they recieved my order they let me know that my special request was going to cost extra. I got the spicy tuna crunch roll, DELISH! The ginger dress is yummy, so is the spicy mayo and they give you generous amounts. This will be, FOR SURE, my go to delivery sushi spot.

this isn't the name of the restaurant. it is kind of not a great smell when walking in. going to a sushi place, you hope for clean and fresh. this smelled... fishy.

This is one of my favorite sushi places of all time. I work in the area and used to live just a few blocks away. I would eat here/order take out an average of 3 times per week. The people that work there are always smiling and super friendly. They will serve you iced water or hot tea (depending on weather) while you wait for your take out. Delivery is fast and efficient. In 18 months of eating here they have only messed up once (they forgot the crunch in my spicy crunch tuna roll). I have only tasted fresh fish here. And the fish to rice ratio is perfectly balanced. The Kani Salad is outstanding. Most restaurants serve shredded Kani drenched in mayonnaise, you'd be lucky to see cucumber and seaweed. However, Dai Hachi's Kani Salad made up of equal parts Kani, cucumber and seaweed. It is tossed in eel sauce, with very little mayonnaise if any. Other things to try: any of the naruto rolls, Rainbow Roll and Rocky II Roll.
