First of all, the food here is amazing! I consistently order from here and love their buffet at lunch. It is top notch Indian food and I would highly recommend it. Second of all, their service is really incredible - they want to do what is right for their customers and they build a really loyal following from it. I had a mishap where I had given them the wrong phone number - the food could not be delivered and was sent back. When we realized the problem, not only did Darbar say a newly prepared meal was on its way, they were able to expedite it, bringing us our meal just 15 minutes later even though it was entirely our mistake. I will definitely keep ordered from Darbar!!

I will never order from Darbar again. Took 1 hour and 50 minutes to deliver and the food is mediocre at most. Darbar's response when I asked what is taking so long is that my food is ready and sitting in the restaurant waiting for the delivery man to come back to get it. So my food is coming to me cold and of not high quality. Not a place i recommend or will order from again. Extremely dissatisfied

Placed order at 7:30, food didn't arrive till almost 9:00, and it wasn't worth the wait. Not bad, but certainly no better than average. Clearly they didn't take all that time to fix me some extra-good food. But the price was above average. With so many good Indian restaurants that deliver better food in half the time, and for much less money, I won't be ordering from Darbar again.

This is the most bland Indian food that I have ever eaten. I had tandori chicken and aloo gobi, and they were almost tasteless. I usually order from Nirvana, but they were closed- it was a big mistake on my part. I will definitely never order from Darbar again.I wish I would have listened to the other reviews. It's weird, there must be a lot of fake reviews that give them a high rating. All of the positive ratings are 5 stars and don't say specific things. They just say "it's great". Then there are the real reviews that state exactly what's wrong with the place- the food is tasteless and greasy.

I have written a glowing review for Darbar before, and I feel compelled to write another one! Again, the food here is EXCELLENT, the service is outstanding and it is consistently good--every time! And we know good food. The owner even included an special dessert for my husband's birthday--complete with birthday candle!! Simply outstanding.

Excellent and consistently high quality food. And, it's fantastic that Darbar delivers! The beetroot Malai Kofta is a stand-out dish - unique and flavorful. Great for vegetarians!

The outside of Darbar is not the most inviting, but don't be fooled by this! That street just needs a renovation in general. Visitors I have met in India and London have all talked about this place when I mention that I live in New York. If you don't have time for the buffet, order the paneer kabobs. You will NOT be disappointed.

We have been eating in and taking out from Darbar for years. We love the food especially the light/dark meat chicken options. The all you can eat buffet is worth it and has a great variety of options (and is offered on weekdays and weekends).

Food is very good, clean...well cooked. Delivery is on the slow side, but worth the wait. Highly recommended. I may try going to the restaurant to eat indoors instead of delivery.. lol. Good Job Darbar!!

Darbar is by far the best Indian food in the city. My boss is Indian and we order from this restaurant all the time. Everything is devine - try the Mango Lassi too - its a creamy smooth cool treat that I adore especially with the spices in the food. The people are extremely nice and my order is perfect every single time (NOT the case with lots of other seamless web restaurants). And my favorite part is that the price is reasonable - and the portions are big. Great value. Great food. Great people. I cannot say enough about this restaurant.

I'm picky about Indian food, and Darbar is my favorite Indian restaurant in midtown east. The chicken and lamb-based dishes are the best options on the menu - my favorites are the Lamb Palak, Chicken Kali Mirch, Chicken Tikka (not CT Masala) and Chili Chicken. I haven't had great luck with their seafood, so I don't recommend that. If you like sweet naan (lots of coconut and dried cherries) the Darbar Special Naan is awesome. In general, the dishes have balanced and complex spices. The gravies / sauces are thick, rich, and not too oily. (I hate nothing more than thin, watery, one-note Indian curries.) It's definitely not cheap, but the quality is higher than the less expensive restaurants in midtown and at least on par with the high end places. If you are looking for cheap, great street food, though, this isn't the place to get it. This is sit-down restaurant North Indian food.

Horrible -- they mixed up my order and sent over vegetable glop instead of chicken tandoori. The spinach dish was so overcooked it tasted vaguely rotten. Ugh.

I won't be back. I've ordered from here a handful of times and the food is just ok. But the last time, after waiting 90 min for my delivery (we are 3 blocks away) I called and cancelled the order. They said they would refund my money. About 20 min after that the order showed up ice cold and wrong. I was still charged. When I called to complain the manager (?) said he would "remember" me and give me something free next time. There won't be a next time.
