San Diego Pizza & Restaurant (formerly Sandro's Pizza)

This hit the spot price and portion-wise. My veal parm hero was toasty and tender with a generous amount of sauce and cheese. Side of broccoli with garlic and oil was huge and well seasoned. To my pleasant surprise, the Caesar salad came topped with lots of sliced red tomato, which was delicious. Too bad the parm cheese was powdery, although I did request extra and they obliged. One small mistake, they forgot my salad dressing. I called and they sent some over promptly. Glad I found this place, I'd been looking for a quality pizza/hero place and the hero really was delicious. I will definitely order from here again.

One of the best pizza places in Astoria. Can't say much for the rest of the menu, but I always go here when I'm in the neighborhood.

I gave this plave ony three stars because they are a "pizza place". You would think the best item on their menu was pizza. But it most definitely is not. I've had much better pizza at the mall. Don't bother ordering 'extra cheese'. They don't know what that is. I would have given Sandro's two stars but they deserve three because they make the BEST chicken parm I have EVER had!!!!!! They give you a good portion of chicken which is made to perfection with the right amount of sauce and loaded with cheese! I guess that's where the 'extra cheese' from the pizza went.

Heroes are pretty good but pizza is very inconsistent; it was good the first time but the next two suffered from cooking care quality (such as being under done) or toppings missing a large area of the pizza. Also, toppings prices changed and online menu wasn't updated leading to some negotiations on the phone.

Terrible. They didn't arrive until an hour and a half after I placed the order, yet their page says 25-40 minutes. I called them at 1 hour, and they said the guy had just left. When he finally arrived here, the food was cold. I ordered a pizza and Mozzarella sticks. The sticks were cold and tasted like they were from a supermarket freezer, to be heated in a microwave. The pizza was so cold that the cheese had congealed; it seems to have been sitting for an hour before arriving here. Stay far away from these guys. Worse pizza place I've ever ordered from in Astoria.
