I want to order from here more but why is the minimum so high. If you look at their menu its hard to ring up $20 with out ordering caperberries by the pound. I would have ordering here so many more times if it were lower. Other than that the food is great.

Completely fresh and very high quality. Perfect egg salad on a bagel. Perfect tuna salad on a bialy. Perfect pickles and green tomatoes. Great soft drinks. Really top notch... and didn't even get to order fish yet. That is next.

Great to find excellent traditional-style Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine represented on Smith Street! Shelsky's is a modern take on the old-time 'appetizing stores' once common in immigrant Eastern European Jewish neighborhoods throughout NYC. The focus is on "the food one eats with bagels," to quote the website of Russ & Daughters Appetizers, a Lower East Side institution since 1914 and the source of inspiration for Shelsky's. True to the appetizing tradition, Shelsky's offers a rather extensive yet choice selection of fine smoked and cured fish. The bagels and bialys are from Kossar's (another Lower East Side institution since 1936), which are simply the best in the city! So far so good: everything ordered has been tasty, fresh, and well-prepared!
