Izakaya on Smith Tapas of Japan

Authentic Japanese tapas... not! I do appreciate the effort of trying to be the best they can be. Definitely a good addition to my local restaurant choices. But if I really want hearty authentic Japanese tapas, I'd hop on a train and head to Oh! Taisho.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The food showed up cold. The tempura was soggy and limp. I ordered a California roll to go with my lunch special and it looks unappetizing as all hell. California rolls shouldn't look like cole slaw or have mayo in them. The tiny-ass amount of miso soup they gave me was lukewarm at best when I got it. The only thing that actually tasted good in the whole damn lunch was the tempura dipping sauce. Horrible. Just horrible. I will never ever eat here again.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant. I've ordered from them countless times & have never been disappointed. I've also eaten at the restaurant itself & have been impressed with the service each time. Order whatever you want, I guarantee that you'll be pleased.

The food tasted alright, but the portions were half the quantity of other places. I ordered Age Tofu and when delivered, only had 3 pieces were in the container. I also ordered the wings, which there were only 4. Probably won't order those things again. The avocado eel roll was as suspected.

Delivery was quick, but food was not great. Several dishes tasted off - like the ingredients were slightly past their expiration dates.

Soy Sauce Ramen and the gyoza I ordered was pretty good. They also separated the broth from the ramen ingredients so the noodles wouldn't get soggy. Food also arrived in the timeframe promised.

Sushi was just okay... maybe I will try the other dishes next time. The eel avocado roll had really fresh avocado but no eel sauce, so again just okay. Fast delivery though, thanks!

Delicious! This is my go-to for japanese comfort food - their sushi is also fresh and yummy. Prompt delivery, typically much faster than quoted.

Excellent items you don't see on most Brooklyn Japanese menus. Very good Japanese style food, goes well beyond just a sushi joint.

Delivery is very slow. I was told that the estimated delivery time is 30-45 minutes but didn't get my food till 1 hour and 15 minutes later. Food is very decent. Order here if you are not in a big rush.

Exceptionally high quality Japanese food compared to standards in NYC and particularly this area of Brooklyn. The Ramen (Miso base!) is a go-to favorite, the Yakitori are varied and a tasty way to try meats you might not otherwise (grilled fried tofu also a must), and the rest of the menu is reliable in quality and varied in choice.

Surprisingly great! Saw them pop up on the Seamless list yesterday and Yelp'd them out of curiosity. The great reviews meant i had to try them and i loved everything i ordered. The Takoyaki (a ball-shaped Japanese savory pancake around chunks of grilled octopus) was great and so was the spicy cod roe mayo that came with the french fries.
