The food here is very good, delivery was prompt & I got exactly the extra's I asked for (home made duck & mustard sauce) with my order. In my opinion, John's is several steps above a typical Chinese food restaurant. By the buy - the pork dumplings were especially tasty!

I never write reviews, but the food I had from this restaurant was so awful that I had to. I've grown up all over the world and love all kinds of foods, and this meal was, absolutely the worst I have ever had. Luke warm, greasy, poor texture, flavorless. I ended up throwing it out and ordering from another place.

One of the few places to sell good steamed buns outside China town or Chicago. The dumplings are good but very very small and about $2-$3 over priced. Delivery is usually pretty fast, food is always hot, and while the delivery guys are NEVER happy and always hand the bag over and rush away like they are going to catch the plague, I can deal with that. Sesame chicken is one of the better ones in Manhattan as is their General Tso. The lemon chicken is ok, but cheap feeling, like a corner take out would be. Overall they seem to use good quality meats and ingredients. Watch out though, they DO NOT read any special notes/instructions you put in with your order, so expect everything to show up as is standard from the menu. All in all, better Chinese (American Chinese) food than any place I've tried between 23rd st and 116th st.

awful, just awful. used to love this place but EVERYTHING i ordered was terrible. Usually I get Chinese and can eat it for several days, but I didnt even bother keeping the leftovers this time...

John's has just about the most "authentic" Chinese food in midtown. They offer dishes that many Asian restaurants don't carry. Their delivery service is quick and the food is always nicely packaged. I've never had a problem with them, so I can recommend them highly.

We love this place - they deliver a little slower than the average chinese place, but the food is awesome. We really like the soup dumplings and the lo mein is awesome.

Decent Chinese food delivery. Slightly more expensive for the portions you get elsewhere, but that's on par for midtown prices.

The fried rice here is delicious. Highly recommend the beef fried rice. Reasonably priced too. The steamed buns are no comparison to Joe Shanghai but definitely 2nd in line compared to all the other ones I've tried. Plus they give you 8 rather than the 6 other places typically give. Deliveries are also pretty fast. This place is definitely becoming a staple for me for Chinese food. Very authentic.

one of the best chinese deliveries i've had in the whole of manhattan. the singapore chow mei fun and the pork chops in peking sauce were really good. and delivery was quick.
