Kiku Japanese Restaurant (55th)

I've just discovered this local restaurant and have been extremely pleased. I've had delivery several times and their food is consistently fresh and delivery is prompt. I highly recommend you give this a try.

Do NOT order from this restaurant. I placed an order which never arrived. Despite multiple calls to the restaurant who assured me the order was on its way the order never arrived. They promised they would call me back but never did. Dishonest and incompetent

I compare all sushi to the sushi I get in Japan. By those standards, this was okay but not good. If you've never had sushi in Japan (and you're not a sushi snob), you'll probably consider this good but not excellent. I ordered online for delivery on a Friday night and had my food in about 20 minutes. I had the following: Miso Soup - Excellent (*****), with seaweed, tofu bits, and green onions. Inari - Good (****), but it's practically impossible to make bad inari unless you burn the rice or let the tofu wrapper spoil. Tamago - Not Good (**), I'm a big fan of Tamago, but the egg custard portion was just not done well. It tasted like something was missing. White Tuna Sushi - Okay (***), perfectly acceptable to eat, nothing wrong with it, but nothing great about it either. It was fresh enough to eat, but it didn't taste like it had been caught the same day. Maguro Sushi - Okay (***), same comments as the White Tuna Sushi Ume Shisho Maki Roll - Good (****), nice combination of flavors and textures, well-made. Kushiyaki - Okay (***), the beef was a bit tough but not too fatty, and the teriyaki sauce was very nice. I would rate it Good (****) if the meat were more tender. Red Bean Ice Cream - Good (****), creamy and beany, very flavorful. It's also important to note that the sushi rice itself was Good (****). I find that this is something that many restaurants in North America don't get quite right, but Kiku got it just right.

I used to order from this place 3 times a week. Not sure what happened but the quality of the sushi has really gone down hill. The smell and color of the fish is just not looking good....last couple times I've had to toss away a roll cause it looked scary. Sadly, I think I am done with this place.

Delivery persons are RUDE. Not worth the aggravation. Called to complain and was given more argument from the person answering the phone. WILL NOT BE ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN.

lunch comes with miso soup and salad, but half container for soup is not sturdy and can easily spill, salad is a cole slaw. yellowtail sushi lunch was ok, but it tasted like they used regular rice to make it, plus it was slightly warm. delivery was quck, but need to tell them to write the name on the bag when delivering to an office buildling.

I called 30 minutes ago and they told me it had left already... (I am a block away).. then I called again a minute ago - and she told me it just left.. I am almost positive the food is going to be terrible because it is hot out and it is sushi... I will never order from this place again... Food just got here... Deent sushi, not worth wait.. of course - they did not pack extra spicy mayo that i asked for 10 + times in email...

The food is great but they are horrible at quoting a delivery time. I'm told that I'll get my order in 15-30 min, but I've been waiting an hour for food.

Terrible food, terrible service. The teriyaki sauce is like water, the sukiyaki isn't sukiyaki at all, the edamame have black spots, and the cole slaw type thing they send along with your order smells rotten.

They have very high quality fish and reasonable prices. I also like their inventive rolls like the Western Roll. Usually very prompt delivery.

Horrible service. Delivery guy ripped the receipt out of my hand be cause I asked him to bring the food up to our office, which is done by each of our deliveries.
