La Giara

I get pasta from La Giara regularly, trying other local places in between, and La Giara is always by far the best. I haven't tried the meat dishes, but the pasta is always delicious and in some way unusual and special. My only complaint, and the reason for the single star off, is that it usually arrives lukewarm, and I have to reheat it.

La Giara was exceptional. Fresh, fast, reasonably priced, and delicious. Try the penne with sausage and stuffed pork chop.

the prices were a little high in my opinion (almost 8 dollars for a salad?) but the star-rating was high and they had a discount so i tried it out. i got the calzones - they where cold and parts were rock hard as if they'd been reheated repeatedly over time...i actually cut my gums not anticipating the crust was that hard. the pasta with mushrooms, while cooked okay, lacked flavor. lastly, (and this might be a seamlessweb issue), i ordered food on my way home from work to my apartment which is 2 blocks from la giara - the estimated time was 15-30 minutes...it didn't arrive for a little over an hour. costly, poor quality, slow service earned 1 star.

I find that it's hit or miss with this place. I've had food delivered and ate there. The delivery guy that handles my neighborhood (dude with the long hair) always has a miserable look on his face which I'm sure contributes to his "speedy" delivery time. The last time I ate at La Giara, the linguini with clams and shrimp was beyond salty. Here's to hoping they START reading their reviews both here and the one I read in the Times. Place has a lot of potential but seems to be quite full of itself.

I ordered teh Tagliatelle Integrali con Polpette di Vitello. It tasted like it was made a few days ago, frozen, defrosted, and reheated. There was no seasoning, use of spices and use of herbs. The "sauce" was plain water as if it was reheated. Avoid this restaurant.

I never got my food! Ordered for lunch and over an hour and twenty minutes later it still wasn't here. I had to call twice and just ended up canceling the order.

Delivery Estimate was COMPLETELY inaccurate. If I knew I was going to be waiting 75 minutes for my food, I would have ordered from somewhere else.

Cavatelli in Salsa d`Agnello was off the charts. Delivery was reasonably fast and I couldn't have been happier with the pasta dish. Salad was eh but the pasta more than made up for it.

We've been eating there for years and the food is generally good but they have TERRIBLE take-out service. Delivery time estimate of 15-30 minutes- 100 minutes and 2 phone calls ("your food is on the way") later we cancelled our order because the food had yet to arrive.

HORRID service. I ordered Chicken Parm -- pretty simple, right. Got fried chicken - NO sauce & NO Parm. Then I called to request they fix it, was on hold, they hung up, acted like they didn't speak English and then gave put up a fight about sending replacement food. Seriously?!?! There are many other Italian options in this hood. Don't give these people your hard earned $$

the linguini with clams and shrimp? it rocks. sadly, it is on the menu no more. Perhaps if they put it back on I'll go back. I'll still keep the star rating as I am hoping that their other food is good too.
