Legend 72 (Formerly Penang)

I've changed my review from 5 stars to 2 - Penang is under new ownership... The portions have shrunk, everything arrives mushy, soggy, drenched in oil, and with absolutely no quality control. The Sotong Goreng was one of my favorite dishes anywhere in NYC, and now it's just a small, greasy, flavorless bastardisation of an otherwise perfect recipe. I'm incredibly sad the new owners (or the new chefs) are cutting corners and producing such bad food - used to love this place, but it just isn't the same whatsoever.

I want to give this a five star but after what happened earlier today, I decreased it to four star (three if I can but I am not that harsh lol). I always ordered from this restaurant whenever I am craving for Malaysian food however the delivery service was pretty bump lately. Yes the food arrived fast 20-35 mins and still very hot but sadly the delivery guy seems very impatient. I know my location is somewhat far north (about 20 blocks from 72nd) but that should not be the reason of just delivering my foods without smile and hospitality. I told him to "hold on for a mere seconds"; apparently he did not understand or simply did not care. He kept on banging my door as if he was delivering a very important message from The White House. After this incident, I might be thinking of re-ordering from them again. I might as well just walk or travel to their restaurant to dine there.

Having worked in Singapore, we'd take trips up to (the city) Penang and eat til our hearts content and (the restaurant) Penang was pretty tasty Malaysian food this side of the Pacific! The beef rendang wrap is AMAZING as is the poh piah. We ordered a bunch of the noodle dishes as well which were flavorful and not greasy. The only dish that was a disappointment was the chicken rice-- this one lacked the savory fragrant flavor that one would expect. Overall, very happy with their delivery time and the quality of the food!

The quality of food we've received from Penang, has consistently not been good. My order from Penang was absolutely dismal tonight: Slimey noodles, and shrimp that was crunchy and tasted very old.

Ordered the green curry ayam, and it tasted DELICIOUS. It's a bit more coconut milk heavy, but it's still very savory and flavorful. They also gave me enough for 2 meals, thank you Penang!

As a huge fan of Thai food, Penang's dishes are not only delicious but also a great value for the money. The papaya salad is crisp and light but not too spicy (I've had it other places where it's unbearably spicy), and I'm obsessed with the coconut rice (so simple, yet so good -- p.s. it's a salty rice not sweet rice). The pad thai can feed two or three people.

For the price of the food that I paid, the food was just not worth it. It was too oily, over sauced which made the food just salty and therefore not tasteful at all. I usually love eating Malaysian food and have heard good things about this place. However, I think I'll just stick to eating Malaysian when I go downtown. What a bummer since I was excited to know Penang was in my neighborhood.
