Mr. Chen's Organic Chinese cuisine is delicious. I am often wary of the quality of food I am going to receive when I order Chinese take-out but I was pleased with the restaurant's food. Most, if not all, of the ingredients used in my meal were clearly organic and of high-quality. I will definitely order from Mr Chen's again. Try the sezchuan chicken and the spring rolls have a sweetness to them that is awesome and refreshing.

Typically I think Mr. Chen's offers great delivery and good food. Today, my delivery driver calle me to come downstairs FIVE minutes before he arrived at my apartment and even appeared to want me to go outside to his car to meet him to get my food. If there was an option to request my tip back, I would. This was shockingly bad service.

Our go-to Chinese delivery place. Food tastes fresh, though delivery can take a while.

I know the food isn't that good, but I kind of admire the chutzpah of labeling it "organic," and it used to be fast. Now I'm on my second time waiting for 1+ hours. Will find some place else. :(

had a wonton soup, beef with veggies and brown sauce + fried rice. I appreciate that it is organic but it is just so bland. I added two packets to soy sauce to the rice and beef and it was still bland...

The food here is ok for Chinese takeout. It's not outstanding. But if you are hungry and home and not able to go out, it is serviceable. Also, they are open much later than a bunch of other delivery places. The curry flavor dishes have a pasty odd consistency. . . I liked the curry fried rice ok, but the singapore noodles were passable. Spring rolls are good, sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken are good, but sometimes I get two spring rolls and sometimes I get three when I order them. No idea why this variance. Delivery: The time estimates are wrong. Just wrong. It's always at least 1 hour or even 1.5 hours - to Dupont Circle anyway. Plan on that - don't order here if you are super hungry. When I ask for silverware, etc., sometimes I get it, and sometimes I don't. Sometimes fortune cookies are included, sometimes not. But, they are nice and they call when they arrive and bring my food to my apartment door on the second floor.

Mr. Chen's is one of our favorite chinese food places, but I was recently disappointed (1/1/2012). We generally try to eat organic as much as possible and we appreciate that Mr. Chen's does that. The food qualtiy is very good and we have not been disappointed by the food. However, today, i was disappointed by the very slow delivery time. It took over an hour and a half to receive the order despite the estimate being 35-50 minutes and my call to the restaurant asking where the food was after an hour.

The food is standard fare Chinese. So why five stars? Because they actually come upstairs to my apartment and deliver to my door. All of the other order-in places make me go to the lobby.

I love that this food is organic but still has some of my take-out favorites. The spring rolls come in 3 - perfect for people who have been left licking their fingers after the standard 2 rolls. The food is marginal, but without the MSG and other crap other restaurants put into their chinese food, I welcome anything that tastes remotely like what it's supposed to. Bottom line - have a hankering for Chinese but don't want to go into a take out place with a bullet proof window - order Mr. Chen's. If you'd like to taste the best Chinese food in the area - make another choice!

I really want to like Mr. Chen's because so much of its produce is organic, but I've finally had to write it off of my list. The food just isn't that good. The crispy mushrooms were in sauce and soggy. The moo shoo vegetables were flavorless. Flavor counts for something. There aren't a huge number of decent Chinese restaurants in DC anymore, but there are much better ones than this.

The food was okay. The "organic" in Mr. Chen's caught my eye and I was hoping for something healthy. I liked the option of getting brown rice. However, the "sesame chicken dinner special" was pretty heavy. It also took nearly 90 MINUTES (!) for them to deliver... I called and they apologized, said they were busy. Still ... I'm probably not trying them again.

I wish I read the other reviews before purchasing. Hands down the WORST chinese food I've ever eaten. Like others, I waited over 1.5 hours for my food which finally arrived when I was already asleep. The food was cold and crab ragoon was soggy instead of crispy from sitting in the box for so long. The General Tso's didn't resemble anything I'd ever had before. The meat was swimming in an uber sweet thick red concoction, that tasted like sweet & sour sauce. And instead of the chilis that are standard in General Tso's, they used hot sauce (which I can't stand!). To top it off, there was no fortune cookie. Overpriced, horrible mess! Never again!

I am not usually picky about food, but this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Delivery was prompt and courteous, however.

After waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes for a delivery estimated to arrive in 35-50 minutes, I received what I can only describe as the ABSOLUTE WORST tofu curl I have ever eaten. It was overcooked to the point of being almost like fried rubber and it had the haunting flavor of chicken fat, which is not a good sign for a vegetarian. I'm not sure why I wasted my time and my money on this. Go to City Lights or Meiwah instead. Mr. Chen's is terrible, the "organic" tagline notwithstanding.
