Nino's Tuscany

THE ORDER ARRIVED AFTER 2 HOURS. When I called to check on the order they promised it would arrive in 10 more minutes. Disappointing experience! Food was fine, but not worth the wait.

Food is great. I love their Penne Stracscate. Word of warning though. They have really, really, really reduced their portion size of pasta. I called to ask if they made a mistake or whether they reduced portions and they confirmed they reduced portion size. It is an embarassingly small amount you now get for the pasta. Would no longer recommend for the price.

The first time I ordered from Nino's my steak dish was rare even though I ordered medium well but the flavor and quality was excellent. The second time I ordered my steak was well done and sliced up so that all the juices ran out--it tasted like chalk. The osso buco milanese was nasty, neither the veal shank or the saffron risotto was seasoned at all and so bland. Both were covered with a dark sauce that tasted like rotten tomatoes and also not seasoned-had to throw this entire dish out. The chicken scarpariello had veins of red soft blood running inside even though the chicken looked like it was cooked but at least it was seasoned well unlike the osso buco. They are very inconsistent and not worth price.

Ordered the polenta parmigiano and ribollita soup. The polenta was covered with a layer of salt so thick it was inedible. The soup was ok, but did not come with bread as promised.

If you get excited about delicious food you're going to love this place. VERY REFRESHING...to be able to get this excited about a place on SW. Nino's Tuscany is by far the best Italian I have ordered on SW....and some of the best I have had in the city. They pay attention to detail and really put thought into their dishes. These are not your average Italian dishes...they are made with care and you can tell from the quality of the finished product. The food is consistently amazing! The red sauce or gravy is INSANELY GOOD! I cannot say enough about this place. And they really follow your directions if you list any on your order (some places just ignore comments)! What else can you ask for!??? The only thing about Nino's that I don't love are the deserts. But otherwise the food is exceptional and the portion sizes are very reasonable. TRY THIS PLACE! I know this sounds like NINO is writing this, but that is not the case...I'm a lawyer/foodie who knows good food...this place has it....you won't be sorry.

The Rigatoni a la Vodka was fine, neither the worst nor the best I have ever had. The delivery, though, took almost 2 hours after an advertised time of 30-45 minutes.
