Oxford Cafe (Lex)

The food is good, but I had a delivery issue last week where I'm pretty sure the delivery guy ate my order. I placed the order at 4:30pm, and the delivery estimate was 20-40 mins. I live two blocks away. I tried to be patient, but by 6:00pm I was pissed off - and hungry! The women on the line said the delivery boy claimed he delivered it to a man in an office. WHAT OFFICE?! You have my full address, I live in an apartment building. She said she'd send another order out, and when the delivery guy got here at nearly 7pm his mouth was all dirty. I asked him to show me where he delivered my original order, and he pretended not to know English, when moments before he was speaking it just fine. When he left, I called the cafe again and told them my suspicion, and how frustrating their lack of professionalism was. She confessed that they'd been having issues with their delivery staff as of late. It's a shame, because I really like the food... the people that deliver it however, are unreliable.

When I placed the order seamless said 25-40 minutes for estimated delivery time, which isn't so bad. When I got my confirmation email from Oxford it said 55-70 minutes. What a joke! I ordered a wrap. To be delivered 4 blocks. Give me a break. Awful, awful, awful. Been waiting an hour for my lunch. This food better be AMAZING.

They have horrible customer service. We ordered macaroni salad which they forgot to deliver, and which happens sometimes with delivery, not a big deal. So we called Oxford Cafe and were told they were out of macaroni salad. We asked for a refund and they said they could not give us one but would be willing to give us a credit. Instead we asked for a replacement item, like potato salad, but Oxford Cafe said that they would not deliver it and instead would deliver it the following day if we wanted to place another order. We did not want to place an order for the following day so we asked for the credit instead and were told that actually they could not do a credit either because their credit guy was out. So at that point they were unwilling to 1) give us a refund, 2) give us a credit, 3) deliver a replacement item. It was only $2.95 so we weren't upset about the money, more upset about the treatment. I emailed seamless, which has great customer service, and they immediately reversed the charge. However, we will not be ordering from Oxford Cafe again.

This rating is only for the delivery service. I often go to Oxford Cafe for lunch because they make fantastic sandwiches, which is why I decided to order from them while stuck at work late one Sunday night (tonight, actually). I've never been so disappointed. I ordered a sandwich that I have often ordered in the store: a fresh turkey sandwich with tomato, avocado, and brie on 7-grain. When my sandwich arrived, not only was it on white bread (as far from a whole-grain bread as you can get), but the turkey was drenched in gravy. No other time that I ordered this sandwich has the turkey been covered in gravy (or even had a minimal amount of gravy on it). I also ordered a Diet Dr. Pepper. I received a regular Dr. Pepper. Big deal, right? The way I see it, I'm paying for a Diet Dr. Pepper; don't give me regular instead. Moral of the story: Great food. But don't be surprised when Oxford delivers an incorrect order.

I just started using seamless web and Oxford Cafe is absolutely terrible. The delivery time is 55-70 minutes. When I did get my food after and hour wait, my chicken cutlet was cold, like it just came out of the freezer. The fries were terrible and the delivery guy tried to make me pay for it, even though I paid online. In short don't order from this place ever.

Love their sandwiches and wraps! Great cheeses and meats available, and you can create pretty much anything you want. Fast delivery.

The food was inexpensive and it came quickly when I ordered it. The pizza was hot and fresh when it came. Not the most gourmet pizza I've ever had but it was good.

standard NYC deli, probably a little more generic then a mom and pop on 2nd ave, but for the area (right across the street from work) combined with the coupon, it's worth at least a visit.

I ordered tuna, a simple sandwich one would think. But their bread was stale, the tuna had no mayo on it. Might cut it if nothing else was open but no recommended.

Would get five stars but pricing is somewhat expensive, which is understandable considering the location. Food is great. Whatever you ask for they either have on the menu and will customize to your taste. No complaints. Delivery is very fast.
