Big fan of Planet Sushi, love ordering from there. I mostly enjoy the chicken teriaki and the gyoza pork dumplings, and on a different day bases the sushi deluxe. I must say it is my favorite japanese restaurant. Nice place inside, food not too expensive. Bravo, I always find it a delight eating there.

Planet Sushi is a great place to tasty and inexpensive Japanese food. I am in love with their generous tuna tartar (with wasabi sauce for flavor). Its one of the largest portions I have ever ordered, and therefore my favorite! Their California roll is the perfect size and proportion of crab to vegetables. I also recommend their tuna and yellowtail shashmi.

I have been a long time Planet Sushi apologist - the rolls were always fine, if nothing special, but last night was a nightmare - delivery AND inedible food. First of all, the delivery guy kept calling my cell phone telling me he was downstairs, well I assume that is what he was trying to say because he spoke extremely rudimentary english. I just kept repeating my address and saying "I'm sorry but you are not here because I can't hear my buzzer!" After the 3rd phone call, I called the restaurant who assured me he was on his way... WTF?! Thankfully he figured it out and buzzed about 10 minutes later - only to deliver rolls (spicy tuna and yellowtail jalapeno) which were horrible. The smell alone was terrible. I threw it all out and ate soup. Goodbye $25, and goodbye Planet Sushi.

Returned home late after a day of traveling and was so glad to find a sushi place open on the UWS after midnight (other then Empire Szechuan). The "house salad" is a bunch of iceberg lettuce with two slices each of cucumber and tomato and some shredded carrots. The Japanese dressing can make anything taste good, though. I also had the shrimp/scallop/calamari skewer appetizers. The shrimp was okay, calamari rubbery and barely edible, the scallops pretty good and the piece of broccoli on each stick doused in the yummy sauce was good. For sushi, I found the tuna avocado roll very good, the yellowtail too fishy, and the white tuna flavorless. I doubt I'd order from here again with better sushi at several other restaurants, but at this hour, it was still a good find.

The uptown roll, dragon roll and edamame are all on point. Dragon roll is really exceptional. I've had sushi all over NYC, and I'm thrilled to find a great place that delivers to me. Great enough to be worth writing this review! And delivery only took 20 minutes late at night on a Sunday, in the rain.

Have to order cooked sushi now that I'm pregnant, but what I received was barely edible. The shrimp and avocado was tough and didn't taste fresh at all. The eel and cucumber was rubbery and had an odd flavor. The veggie gyoza was overcooked and the 'veggies' were such mush I'm not sure what was really in there. Prices are reasonable, I like that you can choose brown rice, and delivery was quick. But if the food isn't good, what's the point?

The best sushi restaurant in the Upper West Side. The service is always on prompt and the quality of the food is consistently great. I eat here every week and have become a very big fan.

Great selection, dependable quality, friendly service. The menu is not spectacularly creative, but the value is excellent.

We've been going there for years, and my mother-in-law (Japanese) tasted all the neighborhood restaurants and found this to be the most authentic (the others being too sweet catering to American taste). On Sunday nights and Mondays, the fish is not the best, so we tend to avoid it, but it's usually very good Thu-Fri-Sat.
