Shinju Sushi (Brooklyn)

(NEGATIVE 4 STARS) AWFUL SERVICE!!! Don't order from here if you are hungry! We ordered from this place and the wrong order showed up and then the delivery person never returned. When we called an hour and a half later the woman was laughing on the phone and was totally rude, and couldn't tell us when the food would come and asked if we could pick it up. We are in Clinton Hill and the restaurant is in park slope. We need good reliable sushi in Clinton Hill!!! Any suggestions?

This rating is based strictly on the delivery and customer service at this restaurant. My food took 1hr 15min to arrive and when it got here it was the wrong order. Upon speaking with someone at the restaurant she couldn't tell me how long it would take for my actual order to arrive. She offered no compensation for my inconvenience and even giggled in the background. There are too many sushi options in BK to deal with this level of service...

Lived in the Slope for two years. Had a lot of sushi around here. Shinju just isnt that great. Gyoza was definitely frozen previously. Not very fresh overall. Not terrible, but won't order again. Personally, Jpan is the best I've experienced so far.

Usually excellent. Sometimes they don't get my specific instructions correct-- steamed not fried for the sushi that sort of thing, but I've learned to put things in cap letters and that helps. Tonight I ordered a Perrier with my dinner and didn't get it :( They're good, spicy soup is AH-MAZING, but they need to pay better attention to details as they make small mistakes on orders quite often. P.S. I called and let them know and they sent me out another one right away. So it's only a really small issue. Otherwise I order from them weekly, and they're my favorites in the area-- great vegetable sushi (I'm pregnant, not a vegetarian), and I loved their spicy scallop roll when I could eat. Always fresh and tasty and very fast delivery.

We think they're the best sushi in the neighborhood. The ingredients are always fresh. The textures are just right. The delivery is fast. Their special rolls are very creative. And unlike other places, their non-sushi choices are also delicious. We've only ever been disappointed in their salads. A+

Shinju is a safe option for sushi. It's not too expensive and the fish is usually pretty high quality. We normally order a handful of rolls and some edamame. Go for the spicy tuna, salmon avocado, shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura and anything with eel. As a side note: Shinju has another location in Downtown Manhattan where I work... they offer a very decent lunch special which is a really great deal.

Heaven - when you need sushi and you can't bear to go out. Admittedly, there is much to be said about the presentation of sushi as part of the enjoyment, but for a fix, I have always found their fish to be fresh and delicious. This is my go-to order place in the hood.

Very good overall (the specialty sushi a la carte was uneven, the standard rolls tasty), but a little late, and the deliverer did not follow the special directions I gave.

As with any "neighborhood" sushi restaurant that mainly traffics in rolls, the quality of the fish is not going to be amazing. That said, Shinju was quite good for the price. The fish tasted fresh and the cuts were generous. The rolls were well-prepared and not overdone. Not the world's most amazing sushi, but good for the price and it does in a pinch. Really fast delivery too. Recommended.

Great sushi, great rolls, quick service -- they lose a star because that "bottled" coke on the menu that costs $1.50 looks suspiciously like a 12 oz. can when it gets delivered. When that gets corrected, a fifth start for Shinju!
