Sumo Japanese

Sumo Japanese offers a quick and easy alternative to going out for sushi. The menu is very straightforward with a variety of sushi and sashimi items as well as some standard entrées. For two people, I usually order one of their Teriyaki combo boxes and then a few rolls, more than enough food to satisfy our far east cravings. The food is fresh, tasty, and prepared quickly, for the price it simply cannot be beat.

The "food" was awful. The "tempura shrimp" was just covered in plain breadcrumbs and deep fried. The "teriyaki" sauce was essentially oil and a splash of soy sauce. And the dressing on the salad tasted like vinegar and carrots as opposed to anything that belongs in any form of Japanese food. This place should be ashamed to call itself a restaurant.

Sumo is great. They're my neighborhood goto sushi joint. Prices are very reasonable and the fish is fresh. Nice big chunks in the rolls. I've tried a lot of items on the menu and you can't go wrong.

We have ordered food from Sumo many times now. The last time we ordered the rice was very mushy and it was not appetizing at all. Disappointed. Will be a while til we order again.

Love Sumo! Never had a bad meal. Last night they delivered the wrong order, but when i called they were super apologetic, sent over the right over immediately and my roommates got to eat the 4 rolls they sent by mistake, Foods awesome, so is the service! :)

This place has become my standby japanese in the area. Exactly what you would expect for the price (aka, nothing fancy, and not a great place to order uni etc) but terrific value for the price, and reliable quality. The combo roll specials are SO CHEAP. I love the carrot ginger dressing and the sashimi salad... the tataki series is really good too, but quite a bit on the spicy side. yes, I am a crazy person for ordering sashimi here.. I still do it every time. Also, the delivery guy is always nice and it's always 45 mins on the dot, even when it's pouring out.

I waited an hour and a half before calling the restaurant. The food arrived shortly after. Sushi was ok but not great. I paid less for better japanese food.

I order from Sumo many times a month if not a week...I have to say it's the best delivery sushi in Williamsburg for the price; the portions are larger and the fish is fresher than other places I've tried. We're addicted to the Godzilla roll...highly recommend!

I can't get enough of Sumo! The Crazy Salmon roll is delicious, as are the spicy tuna rolls, the rock shrimp and avocado rolls and the sweet potato tempura roll. The seaweed salad is perfect. Here's a random thing to avoid though. Don't get the Kani sushi (imitation crab meat). For some reason I love that stuff, but here it is strangely dry and stale. Other than that, the fish is fresh and delicious here.

The fish is tasty and I love how inexpensive everything is... however... the garnishes leave much to be desired (and to this garnish fan, that's a game-killer). Ginger overly sweet, clearly dyed, and just, blergh. I saw on the menu white tuna-jalapeno (my fave!). Alas, the best way to ruin a nice piece of fish is by shoving some canned, pickled jalapenos in there. Please improve the ingredients secondary to the fish, Sumo. Thanks!

Horrible service. Dinner came 1 1/2 hours late and delivery boy wouldn't bring it up to the 3rd floor and made me come downstairs to pick it up! When I complained to the manager, she offered me a free roll as an apology!! This place is a disgrace to Japanese restaurants!

5 Stars for the best sushi available in my delivery range. Very typical American style Japanese sushi, but pretty good! Delivery is always fast. Only complaint is I wish the minimum was $10 rather than $15.
