Sun Cafe Japanese Cuisine

Sun Cafe was fresh, fast and a very good dinner order. I had the edamame which was fresh, crisp and arrived still warm and a King Crab roll which although loosely rolled had excellent avocado and a decent size serving of crab. I finished the meal with the coconut pudding which was also still warm and served in these two little ceramic bowls which I can reuse as soy sauce bowls for my next meal! They kept the hot and cold food separated in the delivery bag with well-placed cardboard - genius and so easy! I wish more places put that extra thought and effort into their packaging. A good spot for quick Japanese dinner.

This rating is for takeout only. Dining in at Sun Cafe has always been a good experience but takeout sushi was a HUGE mistake. I ordered the salmon sushi and tuna roll, and I ended up being very sick. I can conclude that it was because I used the $5 promotion from Seamlessweb since another time I used the $5 promotion, I got the wrong order at a different restaurant.

I order here 3 times a week. I order maki hand rolls all the time. They are fresh, a good size and generous with fish. Always consistent. Highly recommended.

Rating not for the food, but for the service, since I actually haven't received my food yet. Made an order at 12.30pm, it's 1.56pm & I just got off the phone with perhaps the rudest service staff I'd ever have to speak to. So rude, I'm actually taking the time to write a review, 'cos who does this really. She refused to give me proper answers to the question of where my order is, gave roundabout answers as to whether my food is on the way, made excuses as to whether she can contact the delivery man or not, & finally admitted that they'd only JUST send out my order (I remind you, after a 90 minute wait since they confirmed it over email). When I asked if she could check to see if the delivery man is lost or if he needed more information (my apartment has no intercom, & so he would need to call my number), she yelled at me that he was on his way & she had no idea, before proceeding to hang up on me. What a horribly-run business! Even in the roughest restaurants in Chinatown I have never experienced such awful treatment to a customer who has already PAID, & has been waiting for an order she has made 1 and a half hours ago.

I rated them at 3 stars because although the food was good, the service was not. It took an hour to get my food and when I called the restaurant they were not at all helpful. They said my food was probably downstairs and that they would call the delivery person, then hung up. When my food showed up, half of the soup had spilled out of the container. I'm not sure that I'll be ordering from them again. It's a shame when restaurants have good food but the service is a disappointment.

Food never came. It just never came. The restaurant took the order, and then closed for the night without delivering my food. Outrageous.

OK, the delivery was fast so I will give a good review for that but it goes downhill from there. Unfortunately, the last thing I ate was the salad was which was rotten, literally, was eating the salad and found a large rotten moldy patch which could only resemble a growth in a lab. The california roll was made with long grain rice and fell apart easily. Chicken teriyaki and beef negimaki were both covered in a congealed and most unedible "teriyaki sauce". Overall I will NEVER order form here again food quality was very poor I would give ZERO stars if it was allowed.

Have been a regular for a while. Enjoy the food. But, it took 65 minutes for my order to get here...and I'm only two blocks away! DO visit the restaurant. DON'T order in.
