The Path Cafe

I live in Hoboken but commute into Manhattan for work. I was getting my coffee here in Jersey, but it’s just a pain to schlep it on the train. There are three places to get coffee on the Manhattan side - nothing really to write home about, all of them out of the way. Literally fell into the Path Cafe because it is like three doors down from the Path Train. It’s straightforward coffee, an affable taste. It’s not Empire Coffee, but you know what Empire Coffee ain’t Empire Coffee no more, so...

For some reason our 9 year old Josh loves the idea of coffee. He loves the smell of it, he loves watching it being made. He so crazy about coffee that we call him ‘our little Beaner.’ On the way to his first day of school I decided to give The Path Cafe a try. The owner, David got such a kick of of seeing Josh make a cup of coffee, that David told Josh if he got all A’s on his report card at the end of the year, that Josh could work in the store for a day. Which I thought was really cool. I tend to avoid the west side corner of Christopher street – it’s always congested and come night time can be a bit rough. But now the Path Cafe has kind of made it more family friendly. Coffee is great. They make great sandwiches. They sell soda and juices for Josh’s lunch. It’s a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Ordered the cobb salad... what a mistake! the chicken was cold and chewy, the dressing was just weird... I think I might be getting sick to my stomach!

I ordered the super vegetable pannini and chocolate chip cookie. Both were excellent, the pannini was still warm and a good size - not too big, nor too small. Delivery was very fast - received within 20 minutes.

Delivery was quick, but they were a little stingy with the ingredients in my chopped salad. There was probably only 1 oz of chicken in the whole thing. Still, I will order from here again and hope for a more generous salad-preparer!
