ZuZu Ramen

Meh. The food came quickly and the edamame were decent. The ramen fixings were packed separate from the broth and weren't hot which necessitated heating everything up in the microwave. The noodles were cooked well, but the garlic-soy broth was inedibly salty. And I like things salty. As that is the only vegetarian broth option, I won't be ordering from them again.

The ramen has always been fantastic but the delivery service used to be atrocious (horribly late and often with things missing). I didn't order from them for quite a while. I tried again a few months ago, though, and got my food in less than 30 minutes. I've ordered quite a few times since then and it always comes within 30-40 minutes with no mistakes. So, I can wholeheartedly recommend them now!

I had to write this review because I really wanted ramen so decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and order despite the negative reviews here. Delivery took almost 1.5 hours (we live two short blocks away), and the food was cold when it got here and not very tasty. May very well be a fine place to eat in but they don't seem to have it together at all as far as delivery goes, and that's a real downer when you're paying this much for some noodles.

I was so excited to discover delivery ramen in my neighborhood, but what a disappointment! The food arrived two hours and twenty minutes after I ordered. I called twice, and each time was assured my order was done and would arrive within minutes. Forty minutes after the second call, it showed up. I would have forgiven the late delivery had the food been good, but it was somewhere between lousy and mediocre. The gyoza were cold lumps of deep fried dough with little flavor inside. My very hungry five year old -- who normally eats 6 gyoza in 6 minutes -- only ate two of them. The ramen broth was surprisingly still warm but had a bland flavor on par with instant noodle soup. The noodles had sat too long and had lost their texture. The pork was seared on a grill rather than stewed, and it had a strange, almost chemical, taste. I don't think I'll try this place again.

40 minutes after I order, no confirmation. I call, it's cooked, it's waiting for delivery... about 20 minutes? Another hour goes by and my pricey ramen finally shows up. The delivery boy says there is only one cook tonight like I should be understanding that it took over an hour and a half to get a bowl of noodles from a few blocks away. Imagine my chagrin that my food was, in fact, refrigerator cold. Not a happy customer in the least.

This restaurant is new to seamless... though I heard good things about the food from others, the delivery was 10 minutes late, when I called the person on the phone was rude, and the ramen arrived cold (cold poached egg and fatty pork in dashi is NOT a good thing, hot yes, cold no). If the food had arrived hot, it would have been 5 stars, but they lost 2 for being late and rude.

The food is high quality but out of about 8 different orders we've never gotten one that isn't ice cold & needing to be reheated (we don't own a microwave so this means literally re-cooking the food in a pan on the stove). Delivery time is also often well over an hour (nearing two sometimes). Sucks because it's tasty food, but we won't be ordering from here anymore. Bummer, Zuzu!

Love this place, strange seamless hours though... cannot order on Mondays? Can't order before 1700 most days, and can't order this Thursday (not sure if this is weekly?).
