Overall, Hunan Springs is my go-to place for Chinese food.
I've never once had an issue with my food allergy here (bell peppers -- it's in A LOT of Americanized Chinese food, and they've never goofed up and misread my order. Which means no wasted food for me).
Also, I like how they actually, generally, give you a fair balance of meat and veggies/noodles/rice. A lot of places skimp on the meat, but that's rarely been the case with Hunan. Always a lot of beef in my lo mein, same with my pork with garlic sauce or peking sauce (though I dislike the use of "peking" but Cantonese, what can you do?)... The combinations are a good deal, but make sure you get your egg roll if it says you're supposed to get one. Sometimes they forget that. I like the spicy string beans, though sometimes even medium spicy isn't that spicy.
And if they have watermelon available... it's my absolute favorite smoothie.
This isn't a Tony Hu place, but it's still pretty good and not terribly Americanized.
Delivery is always on time or a bit early, so I appreciate that! And the guy who always delivers to my place (they use a service) is the sweetest older gentleman.
Anyway, don't let the outside of the store fool you. It's some good and satisfying Chinese food in there.

One of my go-to delivery spots for years. Delicious and fresh, especially their market-priced seafood. Love the bittermelon beef and lo mein varieties. Friendly delivery who remember me even after moving to different neighborhoods!

First, they have the best Thai red curry in town. Get it with veggies or catfish...awesome. I've ordered several times from them but got no rice tonight. I called right away and they got my rice back in 20 minutes. Their delivery time estimates are always accurate too....much more than I can say for a lot of restaurants that I've ordered from.

Fast Delivery and I agree with the other reviewer...i'm from Jersey/New York and this is one of my top three favorite Chinese places in Chicago...exceptional pot stickers and fried wontons...i could eat those fried wontons everyday....and a decent lomein i like the way it's supposed to taste...still not like the east coast though...but definitely worth ordering from again.

It's the best Chinese restaurants in Chicago. It used to be on Wells for years then the owner decided to take some time off. It's still in old town but now on LaSalle. Best Kung Pao, hot and sour soup and crab rangoons I've ever had.
My friends are all hooked on it now.
