Blue Dog Café - Midtown

The food at Blue Dog is consistently good, but the customer service is consistently terrible. Food, whether group or individual orders is almost always late: minimum 15 minutes, often 1+ hours. Probably because many people's lunches are always late, it is often very difficult to get through to them on the phone, and when I do there is rarely an apology. As much as I enjoy their pricey food, I am getting too sick of waiting for lunch to arrive to keep ordering from them.

I order from Blue Dog about 3 to 4 times a week - for the past 2 years. I have been a very loyal customer. Today, my sandwich arrived with a bite in it! When I called the restaurant to complain, they said they would replace the sandwich but only if I gave them the old one back. I told them that I had already eaten half because the halves were wrapped up individually and I didn’t know the bite was there initially . . .but I would be happy to return the bitten half. Anyway, when they sent me a new sandwich – they only sent me a new half! How stingy can you be? It was so ridiculous how bad the approach to customer service was . . . first of all, don't each your customers' food. Second of all, if you send out a sandwich that appears to have a bite out of it, you can probably expect the customer to complain. And lastly, try to do a bit more than the absolute minimume when "making things right." Blue Dog, I used to love you, but you are so, so, so off the mark here. Ridiculous, ridiculous, ridiculous.

Loved blue dog when it opened in Chelsea. Love that there's one near my apt in midtown. I never know what to order because its all good!

The food at Blue Dog is delicious. It's a little on the pricey side, but worth it unless you factor in the price that you have to wait. I had stopped eating at Blue Dog for months because the wait is ridiculous. I once spent over 20 minutes waiting for a sandwich--and it didn't have to be cooked, just assembled. And this is a take out place, not a sit down restaurant. Now that I can order through seamless though, it's been a pleasure. I put in my order, wait 25 minutes and then walk over and pick it up . Aside from the angry glares of customers waiting, it's a great experience.

The most outstanding cafe! They have AMAZING sandwiches (grilled blue cheese and caramelized apple!) Their lattes are perfect in the morning too.

4 stars HOWEVER! and it's IMPORTANT! and I can say this with conviction because it's happened to me now *3* times... if you order a hot beverage that would come with some steam, your drink will not only not show up with steamed milk it will show up half filled. I have ordered a cappuccino three times and all three times it has arrived not even 3/4 filled which is UNACCEPTABLE! Even if there was a lot of steam this wouldn't be OK. If I pay $5 for a large drink I want it filled to the top. Three times is the charm to get a clue to stop ordering this sort of drink from Blue Dog.

Love the sandwiches, and I think they have the best juices. The only reason I gave them only 3 stars is that their night deliver guy is the worst ever. First time he called me when I am not at my desk, I went downstair anyway and he is no where to be found. Then he called me back an hour later and told me since I didnt pick up the first time, he went to make other deliver. The second time I picked up when he called, he told me he is downstair, and I asked to make sure he is downstair, when I went downstair, there was no one there. So I called Blue dog back and they claimed he went to another place again. Half hour later, I went downstair to help my co-workers to pick up their food, then I see the guy just standing there, without even calling me, with my food. Just be very carefull when you order at night.

The Blue Dog Cafe is a welcome breath of fresh air ... I was in order in hell, and they gave me fresh options combining flavors I love. They're service is amazing too! Anyone who offers me brie and apricots in the morning, or banana and nutella has my vote. And the multigrain bread is hard to beat.

I am a fan!!! It took only about half an hour to get my food... which was unexpected because they were sold out of the juice I originally ordered and called me back. I opted out for the detox juice instead and let me tell you - AMAZING. I also ordered the tuna melt sandwich and it was fresh, clean and delicious. As a healthy vegetarian - this will be my new go-to delivery spot!!

It took an hour and 20 min to get a simple order of a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. When I finally received the order the coffee and the sandwich were barely warn and on top of that the sandwich had the wrong cheese on it!!!!!!!!
