Oriental Cafe (DC)

My husband and I have ordered from Oriental Cafe a number of times and have tried many things on the menu. The food is good, the delivery time estimate is accurate, and the delivery person is always nice. Our favorite meals are the pepper steak dinner special and the sweet and sour pork dinner special.

As far as General Tso's chicken meals go in DC, this is pretty darn good. Plenty of meat, not too much fried batter around it. Just what I'm looking for when I'm too lazy to cook. I only gave 3 stars because well, coming from the SF Bay Area I'm a little spoiled for better stuff. As DC chinese carry-out goes it's probably more like a 4.5 star place.

Consistently good Chinese delivery...rare in DC. I've had a number of items, but the fried wontons, spring rolls, lo mein, fried rice, and shechwan style beef are all excellent.

Oriental Cafe does a very solid, reliable job! The delivery is always quick and accurate. The food is delicious--more tasty than several of the other Chinese delivery places that will deliver to Metro Center. I find the dinner specials to be a fantastic deal, with generous portions that taste great. Looking forward to trying more of their menu.

The meal I just tried to had set a mile stone in American history of bad Chinese food. I was simply stunned after I took the first 2 bites. It must have taken unimaginable curage and imagination to cook food as bad as this. I salute to the chef of Oriental Cafe!

The delivery arrived to our hotel quickly and the food was hot. Coating on sweet & sour chicken was very crisp but super-greasy. The meat seemed on the dry side. The broccoli with garlic sauce had a funny flavor. And it was rather too under-done, even for me, and I like it crispy. I really could not eat it. Vegetable lo mein was on the greasy side, other wise was tasty. Nice proportion of vegetables to noodles, and the noodles were nicely firm. All-in-all, not bad but will probably skip Chinese next time we're in DC.

Do NOT order from here. Heed the warnings of previous reviewers! The food was so disgusting that I had my entire meal refunded. I would give them zero stars if I were allowed.

The delivery took a hour and ten minutes, the meat and chicken on a stick and ribs were over cooked (practically burnt) and the crab asparagus soup was made with fake crab. Do not order from this place!

Delivery was very fast. My order arrived before the delivery window. The food was excellent! Shrimp were large and high-quality, and they followed my special instructions. Way better than the other Chinese delivery places I've tried.

The food was very good but it took almost two hours for our food to be delivered. When it finally did arrive, it was cold. I will give them one more try because I feel like everyone is entitled to a bad day. If their delivery isn't much better next time though, I'm going to lower this rating because 2 hours is too long to wait for delivered Chinese, even if it is tasty.

Pretty decent Chinese food for the price. I would definitely order from them again. I wouldn't recommend the kung pao though; it has way too many carrots. For the record, spicy is not very spicy.
