Pearl East

We've tried Pearl East before and have enjoyed their food, particularly their szechuan dumplings. Unfortunately, our last order took an hour and 53 minutes to arrive. On a Thursday night. I had hungry guests and I called three times. I demanded a discount but was told because I ordered through Seamless there was nothing they could do. I ask that the manager call me and was promised he would. But he never did. There are plenty of other excellent options in Stamford. Skip this one, unless you're prepared to wait two hours for your food to be delivered.

I used to routinely order food from Pearl East and thought it one of the best Chinese restaurants in Stamford. Then I don't know what happened - different chef - bad economy - combination of both - but the quality and taste of the food went down hill. I even spoke to the management about it, they assured me nothing had changed. Hot and sour soup tasted like it had been thickened with corn starch and was very pasty tasting. I actually threw out a couple of the main courses because they too tasted like the ingredients had been "stretched" so to speak. I'm very disappointed - it used to be my ol' standby.

Food is 4-stars, reliability of delivery is ZERO. "It's already on it's way" apparently means "oops, we forgot." Quoted 40-55 minutes, took 2 hours, and this has now happened twice. So, if you're picking up, the food is pretty good. If you're ordering for delivery, you may want to have some snacks on hand for the wait.

Food was fine - but delivery was 1 hr 45 min to get here. I got a "sorry we were busy" as an explanation. The food isn't good enough to deal with that.

Normally, I find their food to be okay to good. Not remarkable. However, today I ordered sushi and upon delivery found a piece of plastic within one of the rolls. I called to report this. I did not demand a refund or anything of the sort and no offer was made to rectify the issue. "I'll tell the chef to be more careful". I won't be ordering from them again.

Having spent the last 15 years searching for great, Sunday night, Chinese food take-out - finally I can say that this place is terrific!! Everybody's order was delicious and Seamless couldn't have been any easier! Yeah!!

Food tastes good; however, food arrived 30 minutes past confirmed delivery time and salad was missing from order (even though the salad dressing was included!).

Good value, particularly the lunch specials. Some great authentic Chinese options and solid Chinese standards but can be hit or miss on other dishes. The sushi is serviceable for when I have a craving but there are definitely better options for sushi in Stamford.
