Soul Spot Restaurant

Hey you are my favorite this is the heritage of legacy. The Soul Spot is the best restaurant on my menu. The food is delicious and got to try the baked chicken, string beans, and cornbread. As Africian-American woman I do know my food. The Soul Spot is now my home and I give it 5 gold stars.

Jerk Chicken. Mashed Potatoes. Stewed Okra with Tomatoes. I dare anyone who gave this restaurant a negative review to try that meal and say it's not fantastic.

We ordered twice both times with friends who love this place. We found it to be really greasy and not much to our liking. We like soul food but tend to enjoy mama's better. Our friends on the other hand would beg to differ.

It is what it is... Yard food, Soul Food made with love. Those who are expecting 5 star service (of which I have never had a problem with them) need to re-evaluate their expectations. Good Jerk chicken, good plantain (sometimes a little greasy) but it's $10! They even sent me extra food once as a thank you!

I really want to like this place because the menu is loaded with things I like. However, I have yet to find them executing any of them in a way that would have me order again. What kind of soul food place makes mediocre fried chicken?

Great food. Food arrived cold, but that's what happens when you order "Delivery" most of the time. Certain kinds of food just should be eaten at the place where they are cooked. I ordered the white meat fried chicken with rice and gravy (gravy was great) plus sweet corn and a side of mac and cheese. Chicken, corn and rice were great, mac and cheese just didn't do it for me.

An hour after we ordered they called me to let me know they didn't have one of our entrees. Then a 2nd call that they didn't have my sides. Then a 3rd call about a 3rd item. It's been two hours & no delivery yet. Not good :(

This place is going down hill. I used to love it, but the portions are getting smaller and delivery takes way longer than estimated (over an hour and 15 minutes). It's just not worth ordering from anymore.

Zero stars. Took them 1/2 an hour to confirm the order and another hour has gone by and still no food. Called twice (once to ask why the order wasn't confirmed & the other to ask where the order was). Both times the delivery person 'just left'. Strange. They must have just left in the opposite direction of my place. No food can be worth this wait.

Disappointing. Chicken, stuffing, and corn bread were dry--corn bread came from the outer edge of the pan and was hard, too. Everything was nicely seasoned, but tasted like it had been on a steam table for way too long. Collard greens were especially disppointing--well seasoned and cooked well, but gritty; apparently the greens had not been washed enough before cooking. I will not be ordering again.
